Service Description

This class offers an extensive, even if selective, overview of cinema history, and explores the tools for analyzing film. Students will learn how to develop a historical appreciation of film based on a survey of cinematic traditions contained within narrative, documentary, and experimental forms. Students will develop technical, and aesthetic vocabulary relating to cinematic practices and structures. We will examine the uses of camera, lightning, sound, acting and editing as well as explore the effects of technological advances on film production and storytelling. We will explore the significance of genre and the legacy of “auteurs” throughout cinema’s history.

Classes Please note that you must cancel your Class before it begins. All Class cancellations must be made more than 48 hours before the Class is scheduled to begin. WE PROVIDE NO REFUNDS OR PRORATED BILLING FOR MID-CLASS CANCELLATIONS. EACH COACH RESERVES THE RIGHT TO OFFER CREDIT TOWARDS OTHER SERVICES IN SELECT CIRCUMSTANCES. Please note that each circumstance is unique and election to make such an offer in one instance does not create the obligation to do so in another. Private Lessons and Workshops All cancellations must be made more than 24 hours in advance. Credit on student account will be given with 24 hour notice of cancellation. Missed appointments will not be credited unless cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. If a student is late to an appointment the coach will still have to end the lesson at the scheduled time with no refund.
